Video

The use of video helps to bring an accident scene to life. It can greatly assist lawyers in deciding how to deal with a particular matter or how to advise a client. It is possible to take a general video of an accident site showing whatever details may be relevant. The author has an in-car video that can be used to give a true driver's eye view of the road ahead.
Video is also useful to graphically illustrate the time for a manoeuvre to take place. This has been used successfully to investigate and illustrate the following types of accidents/incidents:-

  • overtaking incidents
  • right turn manouvres
  • emerging vehicle accidents
  • roundabout accidents
Video can also be used to show:-
  • traffic flow
  • pedestrian movement
  • severity of bend/gradient
  • condition of road surface
  • limits of visibility
  • time taken to cover a particular route
